Florida looks easy on equipment and isn't. There's no rock to speak of across most of the state and no frost at all, so operators coming from anywhere else expect undercarriage to last longer here. It usually doesn't.
The reason is sand. Florida's fine silica works into every joint, seal and bushing and behaves like grinding paste — abrasion without impact, steady and invisible, on machines that look clean from the cab. Add salt air along both coasts, UV and heat that break down rubber compounds faster than most owners budget for, and a wet season that puts machines in saturated ground for months, and you get a state that wears undercarriage in ways the manufacturer's charts don't predict.
Our branch sits in St. Augustine, in St. Johns County, between the port at Jacksonville and one of the fastest-growing residential corridors in the country. We stock the undercarriage, rubber tracks, pads and ground engaging tools built for this. Industrial Tractor Parts has been supplying heavy equipment parts since 1956, and we run nine branches nationwide.
We're an independent aftermarket parts distributor, not a dealership. That means we're not limited to one equipment brand and we're not tied to one price book. We're one of the longest-tenured authorized Berco dealers in North America, and we produce our own ITP private-label line — components built to the standard we're willing to put our own name on.
What We Stock at Our Florida Branch
Undercarriage Components
Full undercarriage for excavators, dozers, crawler loaders, drills, pipelayers and compact track loaders — from a single roller replacement to a complete both-sides rebuild:
- Track chains — sealed and lubricated (SALT) and greased chains, with or without shoes
- Track shoes and pads — single, double and triple grouser, in standard and heavy-duty gauge
- Wide and LGP track shoes for wet season work, muck and saturated ground
- Track rollers and carrier rollers — bottom and top rollers, single and double flange
- Front idlers and idler groups — including recoil spring and track adjuster assemblies
- Sprockets and sprocket segments — bolt-on segments for machines where a full sprocket change isn't practical
- Seal groups, pins, bushings, bolts and nuts
- Track guides, rock guards and full-length guiding for limerock, land clearing and demolition work
Seal quality matters more in Florida than almost anywhere. Sand is what gets past a compromised seal, and once it's inside the joint the chain is on a much shorter clock.
In-House Track Press Work
We run a track press at our Florida branch, which means we're not only selling you components — we can do the work that turns them into a finished track:
- Shortening and lengthening chains — adding or removing links to correct pitch, adjust for wear, or adapt a chain to a different machine
- Pad and shoe swaps — pulling worn shoes off a serviceable chain and bolting on new ones, instead of buying a complete chain you don't need
- Building complete track groups — chain, shoes and hardware assembled and ready to install when it arrives
Portable Pin Presses
For fleets that would rather do their own undercarriage work, we sell portable track pin presses — master pin removal and installation, pin and bushing turns, and chain work in your own yard or on the job site. No lowboy, no shipping the machine out.
Rubber Tracks
Rubber tracks for mini and midi excavators, compact track loaders, multi-terrain loaders, dumpers and carriers.
- Non-marking compounds for finished concrete, pavers, driveways, parking structures and residential work
- Tread patterns matched to the application — C-pattern and zig-zag for traction in wet season mud, block and staggered-block for CTLs on hard surfaces, sod and turf
- Continuous steel cord and embedded steel link construction for machines running high hours in abrasive sand
Two things shorten rubber track life here more than anywhere else in our network. Heat and UV degrade rubber compounds continuously — a track that would go three seasons in a temperate state often won't here, and machines that sit uncovered between jobs age faster than machines that work. Sand abrades the drive lug and sprocket interface steadily, which is why Florida tracks often fail from the inside rather than from tread wear.
Rubber and Poly Pads
- Bolt-on rubber pads for excavators and dozers working paved and finished sites
- Clip-on and chain-on pads for machines switching between road work and dirt without a full shoe change
- Poly pads for road milling machines and pavers
Florida's density of finished residential and commercial work means pad demand here is year-round rather than seasonal.
Ground Engaging Tools (GET)
- Bucket teeth, adapters, pins and retainers
- Cutting edges, end bits and side cutters
- Sidebar protectors and wear bars
- Ripper shanks and protectors
- Grader blades
Florida GET wear is mostly an abrasion problem rather than an impact one — sand and shell grind teeth and edges down steadily. The exceptions matter, though: limerock and coquina, buried construction debris, palm and pine root mass, and storm debris are all impact applications hiding inside what looks like soft ground. We'll help you match tooth style to what you're actually digging.
Built for Florida Conditions
Sand, Silica and Abrasion
This is the defining Florida undercarriage problem and the one most operators underestimate. Fine silica sand gets everywhere, works past seals, and grinds pins and bushings from the inside. It doesn't crack rollers or bend guards the way rock does — it just wears everything, continuously, without warning signs.
The practical consequences: seal condition matters more than material condition, bushing turns come due sooner than the hour meter suggests, and a Florida undercarriage that looks visually fine can be far closer to the end of its life than an identical machine's up north. Measure on a schedule here, not on appearance.
Salt Air and Coastal Corrosion
With coastline on both sides of the state, a large share of Florida equipment works in salt exposure — beach renourishment, dune restoration, seawall and shoreline stabilization, marine and dock construction, and port work. Salt attacks chain joints, seal groups and pin and bushing seals independent of wear.
Machines don't even have to be on the beach. Salt air carries inland, and equipment that sits outside near the coast corrodes on its own time.
Heat, UV and the Absence of an Off-Season
Most of our branches serve markets with a winter slowdown — a natural window to measure, rebuild and reshoe while machines are parked anyway. Florida doesn't have one. Work runs twelve months, machines rarely sit, and there's no obvious moment to take a machine down.
That makes undercarriage planning here a deliberate decision rather than a seasonal habit. The fleets that do it well schedule measurement on a calendar and plan rebuilds around their own contract gaps. The ones that don't end up rebuilding in an emergency, at a premium, in the middle of a job.
Sustained heat and UV also work continuously on rubber, seals and lubricants — one more thing that runs year-round here.
Wet Season, High Water Table and Soft Ground
June through September puts machines in saturated ground with a water table that's never far down. Sitework, stormwater pond excavation, drainage and utility installation all continue through it, which means wide and LGP shoe configurations, flotation over traction, and a lot of machines working conditions they weren't spec'd for.
Muck and organic soils south of us add their own problem: ground that won't support a standard machine at all.
Hurricane Recovery and Storm Debris
When a storm comes through, everything happens at once — debris removal, demolition, temporary access, and infrastructure repair, all urgent and all simultaneous. Storm debris is the harshest material a bucket tooth or cutting edge will ever encounter: mixed timber, metal, masonry and whatever the water moved.
We stock GET with those seasons in mind, and we've been through enough of them to know what the demand curve looks like. Ordering ahead of a season is dramatically cheaper than sourcing during one.
Jacksonville, JAXPORT and Northeast Florida Growth
Our own backyard. The port drives terminal construction, dredge support and channel work along the St. Johns. Around it, distribution and logistics buildout means mass grading and deep utility work on tight schedules.
St. Johns County has been among the fastest-growing counties in the country for years, and the residential and commercial development that comes with it — land clearing, site development, stormwater, roads and utilities — keeps an enormous population of compact and mid-size machines working continuously.
Land Clearing, Timber and Silviculture
North Florida pine plantations, silviculture and land clearing statewide run feller bunchers, skidders, mulchers and CTLs over stumps, roots and palmetto. Land clearing ahead of development is close to permanent work in this state. Full-length guiding, guarding and heavy sidewall track construction earn their cost quickly.
Mining, Limerock and Aggregate
Phosphate mining in central Florida, limerock and aggregate operations statewide, and sand and shell pits. Limerock in particular is genuinely abrasive and hard on both undercarriage and GET — one of the few Florida materials that damages by impact as well as abrasion.
Agriculture
Citrus, sugarcane, vegetables, sod farms and cattle operations across the state, plus row crop and peanuts in the panhandle. Sod farming in particular runs a large population of tracked equipment on turf, where non-marking and low-disturbance track selection matters.
Equipment Brands We Support

Why Dealerships Buy from ITP
Family-owned since 1956, now in our fourth generation. Seven decades of doing one thing. When your counter has a customer waiting and a part number that doesn't cross, the person you reach here has almost certainly seen it before.
One of the longest-tenured authorized Berco dealers in North America. A relationship that goes back decades, and a name your customers already trust.
Our own ITP private-label line. We spec and cast our own undercarriage components to demanding standards, verify them, and stand behind them. It's a line you can put on your shelf and sell with confidence, and it's our name and reputation on it — which is exactly why we won't put it on anything that doesn't earn it.
Nine U.S. branches and deep inventory. New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Illinois, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida and Louisiana. Distributed stock means fewer backorders and fewer conversations where you have to tell a customer you don't know when it's coming.
Fitment support that saves your counter time. Send us the machine make, model and serial, or photos of what's worn. Undercarriage is a measurement problem before it's a parts problem, and we'd rather spend the fifteen minutes with you than have you eat a return.
