Illinois runs two economies that wear out undercarriage in completely different ways. North of I-80, it's pavement, scrap steel, quarry rock and freeze-thaw. South of it, it's black prairie clay that turns to gumbo every spring and packs a running gear solid. A material handler in a Calumet scrapyard and a dozer on tiled farmland downstate are both hard on tracks, but for opposite reasons — and the parts that solve one won't solve the other.

Our branch sits in Dolton, in the south Chicago industrial corridor, minutes from the Calumet yards, the intermodal terminals and Thornton Quarry. We stock undercarriage, rubber tracks, pads and ground engaging tools for both halves of this state. Industrial Tractor Parts has been supplying heavy equipment parts since 1956, and we run nine branches nationwide.

We're an independent aftermarket parts distributor, not a dealership. That means we're not limited to one equipment brand and we're not tied to one price book. We're one of the longest-tenured authorized Berco dealers in North America, and we produce our own ITP private-label line — components built to the standard we're willing to put our own name on.

What We Stock at Our Illinois Branch

Undercarriage Components

Full undercarriage for excavators, dozers, crawler loaders, material handlers, drills, pipelayers and compact track loaders — from a single roller replacement to a complete both-sides rebuild:

  • Track chains — sealed and lubricated (SALT) and greased chains, with or without shoes
  • Track shoes and pads — single, double and triple grouser, in standard and heavy-duty gauge
  • Track rollers and carrier rollers — bottom and top rollers, single and double flange
  • Front idlers and idler groups — including recoil spring and track adjuster assemblies
  • Sprockets and sprocket segments — bolt-on segments for machines where a full sprocket change isn't practical
  • Seal groups, pins, bushings, bolts and nuts
  • Track guides, rock guards and full-length guiding for quarry, scrap and high-impact work

In-House Track Press Work

We run a track press at our Illinois branch, which means we're not only selling you components — we can do the work that turns them into a finished track:

  • Shortening and lengthening chains — adding or removing links to correct pitch, adjust for wear, or adapt a chain to a different machine
  • Pad and shoe swaps — pulling worn shoes off a serviceable chain and bolting on new ones, instead of buying a complete chain you don't need
  • Building complete track groups — chain, shoes and hardware assembled and ready to install when it arrives

Portable Pin Presses

For fleets that would rather do their own undercarriage work, we sell portable track pin presses — master pin removal and installation, pin and bushing turns, and chain work in your own yard. No lowboy, no shipping the machine out.

Rubber Tracks

Rubber tracks for mini and midi excavators, compact track loaders, multi-terrain loaders, dumpers and carriers.

  • Non-marking compounds for finished concrete, asphalt, parking structures, and campus and institutional work
  • Tread patterns matched to the application — C-pattern and zig-zag for traction in mud and slope work, block and staggered-block for CTLs on hard surfaces and turf
  • Continuous steel cord and embedded steel link construction for machines running high hours on abrasive material

Rubber and Poly Pads

  • Bolt-on rubber pads for excavators and dozers working paved sites
  • Clip-on and chain-on pads for machines switching between street work and dirt without a full shoe change
  • Poly pads for road milling machines and pavers

Ground Engaging Tools (GET)

  • Bucket teeth, adapters, pins and retainers
  • Cutting edges, end bits and side cutters
  • Sidebar protectors and wear bars
  • Ripper shanks and protectors
  • Grader blades and snowplow cutting edges

Illinois GET wear splits the same way the state does. Limestone quarry and demolition work in the north is an impact-and-abrasion problem calling for rock-style tooth systems. Downstate row-crop and drainage work is mostly soil, where penetration matters more than toughness. We'll help you match tooth style to what you're actually digging instead of reordering what came on the machine.

Built for Illinois Conditions

Chicago Metro Construction

Dense urban work runs compact equipment — mini excavators, skid steers and compact track loaders sized to fit a lane closure. High hours, constant travel over concrete and asphalt, and tight turning in confined sites accelerate rubber track and pad wear far past what the same machine sees on an open site. Add CDOT roadwork, water and sewer replacement, Deep Tunnel and stormwater infrastructure, utility cuts and selective demolition, and you have a market that consumes non-marking tracks and bolt-on pads continuously.

The Calumet Corridor, Scrap and Recycling

This is our backyard and it's an undercarriage application most parts counters rarely see. Scrap yards, metal recycling operations and transfer stations run material handlers and excavators on ground covered in cut steel, rebar and debris — an environment that damages undercarriage by puncture and impact rather than gradual wear. Rock guards, full-length guiding and heavy-duty gauge components aren't optional here, and neither is having a source that stocks them.

Brownfield remediation and legacy industrial site redevelopment across the south suburbs add demolition and mass excavation through fill of unknown composition, which is hard on both undercarriage and GET.

Quarry and Aggregate

Thornton Quarry and the limestone operations across Cook, Will and DuPage counties keep loaders, excavators and dozers in continuous rock contact. High GET consumption, impact damage rather than gradual wear, and a strong argument for heavy-duty gauge rollers and idlers over standard.

Intermodal, Logistics and Warehouse Development

Will County and the Joliet–Elwood corridor form one of the largest inland port and distribution complexes in North America, and the buildout hasn't stopped. Mass grading, site development and infrastructure on a scale that puts serious hours on dozers and excavators fast.

Downstate Agriculture and Drainage

Corn and soybean ground across central and southern Illinois runs a large population of tracked tractors, skid steers and compact track loaders. Two things make this market distinct:

Black prairie clay

Wet spring soil packs into undercarriage and running gear, then dries hard. It loads idlers and adjusters, hides wear, and abrades in ways lighter soils don't.

Tile drainage

Illinois has one of the densest concentrations of agricultural tile in the country, and installation and repair keep tracked trenchers and excavators working saturated ground through narrow seasonal windows. Downtime during a tile window costs the same as downtime during harvest.

River and Barge Work

The Illinois, Mississippi and Ohio rivers mean levee maintenance, bank stabilization, dredge support and terminal work — heavy machines in saturated ground and periodic flood response.

Southern Illinois Coal and Mining

Bituminous coal operations and reclamation work in the southern counties: abrasive material, high-hour machines, and operators who know exactly what undercarriage costs per hour.

Winter, Salt and Freeze-Thaw

Chicagoland uses more road salt than almost any metro in the country, and it attacks chain joints, seal groups, and pin and bushing seals independent of material wear. Freeze-thaw cycling packs material into the undercarriage and then freezes it solid, loading idlers, recoil springs and track adjusters well past design. Frozen ground turns ordinary digging into an impact application. And snow season puts municipal and contractor fleets on pavement for months, which is brutal on pads and cutting edges.

The upside: Illinois has a real winter slowdown. A planned rebuild in January costs a fraction of an emergency one in July, and we'd rather help you measure in the off season than expedite a chain mid-contract.

Why Dealerships Buy from ITP

Family-owned since 1956, now in our fourth generation. Seven decades of doing one thing. When your counter has a customer waiting and a part number that doesn't cross, the person you reach here has almost certainly seen it before.

One of the longest-tenured authorized Berco dealers in North America. A relationship that goes back decades, and a name your customers already trust.

Our own ITP private-label line. We spec and cast our own undercarriage components to demanding standards, verify them, and stand behind them. It's a line you can put on your shelf and sell with confidence, and it's our name and reputation on it — which is exactly why we won't put it on anything that doesn't earn it.

Nine U.S. branches and deep inventory. New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Illinois, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida and Louisiana. Distributed stock means fewer backorders and fewer conversations where you have to tell a customer you don't know when it's coming.

Fitment support that saves your counter time. Send us the machine make, model and serial, or photos of what's worn. Undercarriage is a measurement problem before it's a parts problem, and we'd rather spend the fifteen minutes with you than have you eat a return.
