Western Pennsylvania is rock, and it's rarely flat. Sandstone and shale through the Allegheny Plateau, limestone in the valleys, coal seams under a good deal of it, and slopes steep enough that side loading wears a chain unevenly long before the material does. A machine working a well pad on Chestnut Ridge, a dozer on a reclamation job in Greene County, and an excavator cutting a bench for a slide repair outside Pittsburgh are all in high-impact applications — whether or not anybody spec'd them that way.
Our branch sits in Latrobe, in the Laurel Highlands, about forty minutes east of Pittsburgh and in the middle of the coal, gas and aggregate country that drives this end of the state. In-House Track Press Work
We run a track press at our Pennsylvania branch, which means we're not only selling you components — we can do the work that turns them into a finished track:
- Shortening and lengthening chains — adding or removing links to correct pitch, adjust for wear, or adapt a chain to a different machine
- Pad and shoe swaps — pulling worn shoes off a serviceable chain and bolting on new ones, instead of buying a complete chain you don't need
- Building complete track groups — chain, shoes and hardware assembled and ready to install when it arrives
Portable Pin Presses
For fleets that would rather do their own undercarriage work, we sell portable track pin presses — master pin removal and installation, pin and bushing turns, and chain work in your own yard or out on location. On a well pad or a reclamation site an hour off the interstate, that's the difference between a half-day repair and a week of downtime.
Rubber Tracks
Rubber tracks for mini and midi excavators, compact track loaders, multi-terrain loaders, dumpers and carriers.
- Non-marking compounds for finished concrete, asphalt, campus and institutional work
- Tread patterns matched to the application — C-pattern and zig-zag for traction on slopes and in mud, block and staggered-block for CTLs on hard surfaces and turf

Sidewall damage from rock and stumps is the most common way a track dies in western Pennsylvania, not tread wear. Construction matters more than pattern here.

Built for Western Pennsylvania Conditions
Rock, Steep Slope and Side Loading
The Allegheny Plateau puts machines on grades that most equipment isn't designed around. Side-slope work is one of the fastest ways to wear a chain unevenly and throw a track, and full-length guiding is the direct answer to it — not a premium option.
Sandstone, shale and limestone produce impact damage rather than gradual wear: cracked rollers, damaged idlers, bent guards and chipped sprocket teeth. Heavy-duty gauge components cost more up front and are consistently cheaper across the life of the machine in this terrain.
Coal, Reclamation and Mine Land
Southwestern Pennsylvania has been mining coal for two centuries, and the work didn't stop when the mines closed. Active surface operations, longwall subsidence repair, refuse and gob pile handling, abandoned mine land reclamation and acid mine drainage remediation all keep heavy machines working abrasive, unconsolidated material on unstable ground.
Mine spoil and coal refuse are among the harshest materials an undercarriage will encounter — abrasive, chemically aggressive, and full of rock that shouldn't be there. Guarding and heavy-duty gauge are baseline, not upgrades.
Marcellus and Utica Gas
The wet gas window runs right through this end of the state, and it built an entire equipment economy on top of ground that was never easy. Well pad construction, access road building and maintenance, midstream facilities and pipeline right-of-way put dozers, excavators, sidebooms and pipelayers on steep, rocky terrain far from any parts counter.
Crawler-Mounted Drilling and Support Equipment
Runs undercarriage in an unusual duty cycle — long stationary periods under heavy load, then repositioning across rough ground. That combination is hard on rollers, idlers and track adjusters in ways a normal excavator duty cycle isn't. We stock for it.
Landslides and Slope Stabilization
Southwestern Pennsylvania is among the most landslide-prone regions in the country, and slide repair is a permanent category of work here rather than an occasional emergency. Benching, rock buttresses, soil nailing support and drainage repair put machines on unstable side slope in wet conditions — the exact scenario full-length guiding exists for.
Pittsburgh Metro and Brownfield Redevelopment
Sustained commercial, institutional and residential construction across the metro, plus redevelopment of former steel and industrial sites. Brownfield work means demolition, deep excavation and mass earthmoving through fill of unknown composition — hard on both undercarriage and GET, and full of surprises no one priced.
Urban and near-urban work also runs compact equipment on pavement, which drives non-marking rubber track and bolt-on pad demand.
The Three Rivers and Inland Port Work
The Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio make Pittsburgh one of the largest inland ports in the country. Lock and dam maintenance, bank stabilization, terminal work, dredge support and periodic flood response keep heavy machines in saturated ground for extended periods.
Quarries and Aggregate
Limestone and sandstone quarrying and sand and gravel operations across the western counties. High-hour machines in continuous rock contact, heavy GET consumption, and operators who track cost per hour closely.
Highway, Bridge and Turnpike Work
PennDOT and Turnpike projects, and a bridge inventory that keeps replacement and rehabilitation work steady year after year. Tight schedules with liquidated damages attached, and machines that can't sit.
Hardwood Forestry and Land Clearing
Pennsylvania is one of the country's leading hardwood producers, and steep-slope logging across the Laurel Highlands, the Alleghenies and the northern tier puts harvesters, forwarders and skidders on rocky, root-bound ground. Guarding and full-length guiding pay for themselves fast — a thrown track on a steep landing is a recovery, not a repair.
Winter, Salt and Freeze-Thaw
Pennsylvania uses road salt heavily, and it attacks chain joints, seal groups, and pin and bushing seals independent of material wear. Freeze-thaw cycling packs material into the undercarriage and then freezes it solid, loading idlers, recoil springs and track adjusters well past design. Frozen ground turns ordinary digging into an impact application.
The upside is a real winter slowdown. A planned rebuild in January costs a fraction of an emergency one in July, and we'd rather help you measure in the off season than expedite a chain mid-contract.
